From Albany we were headed to a beach not too far away for some free camping. As we were leaving a guy at the servo gave Daniel another place to look at near where we were headed, called East Bay. It was lovely and we ended up staying for 5 nights. We were lucky to get a decent spot, with our own beach view, as obviously many people had visited that servo and got the 'insider' information as the place got packed every afternoon. We all had a great time there and would have stayed longer but the weather turned. We spent out time there:
- Swimming (Emilia had a ball on the boogie board)
- Climbing on the rocks (at least twice a day, as they kids loved it)
- Building Barbie castles and monster truck tracks in the sand.
- Doing yoga on the beach.
- Going for walks along the water's edge.
- Generally relaxing. The kids had a ball playing make believe so we actually got a chance to relax. It was great.

Sunset along the beach. |
On one of the days Emilia and I walked the 4kms the other end of the bay whilst Daniel and Jackson took the 40km trip (no direct route) and picked us up. We then went just to the other side of the point to Little Beach, voted one of the best beaches in Australia. It has pristine, fine white sand, bright turquoise water and large boulders on either side of the small bay. It would usually have green bushes up the steep slope behind the sand but a bushfire had been through in the last year and new shoots were only beginning to appear. Whilst I tried to boogie board (and got seriously wiped out by some very decent waves) the kids made a sand castle and Daniel when for a spearfish. He caught a large blue groper that we ate for the next few nights - yum. Afterwards we took advantage of the showers at a beach toilet block but unfortunately for the kids they were stone cold - their screams rang out along the beach as we attempted to wash them for the first time in a few days!!
Travelling has taught them to appreciate warm showers when we get them and it is always funny when we are in caravan parks and they ask 'Mum, can we please have a warm shower this time'. I always wonder what everyone else thinks!
We left this beautiful spot to go inland to Stirling Ranges National Park for some bushwalking and mountain climbing.
