Alpacas, Abalone and Parry Beach.

We had heard about a great camp about 20kms before Denmark and we're pleasantly surprised. It was camping in between the tea trees just back from Parry's Beach. We were so lucky with our arrival as the first site, large and with beach views, was available. They even had flushing toilets and solar showers and you were allowed fires, all for only $15 a night!
Whilst at Parry Beach we:
- Did lots of exploring in the rock pools and saw 2 large stingrays and a wobbegong shark swimming around in a large pool near the fish filleting table hoping for a feed.
- Ate lots of abalone as Daniel found some large green lip in the rocky crevices near the camp. He even managed to save the shells as souvenirs.
- Tried to explore the area but got bogged when we didn't let the tyres down. Thankfully our maxx tracks got us out of trouble again! We then headed to an easier to reach beach where the kids and I built sandcastles whilst Daniel went spear fishing to get us dinner (he got a huge blue grouper- yum!)
- Spent some time in nearby Denmark in the playground, doing tastings at the chocolate factory (lemon chocolate- surprisingly delicious), losing ourselves in the Denmark Maze, drinking delicious coffee, doing a scenic drive and visiting the Denmark Animal farm and Alpaca stud (this was a treat for Jackson for his birthday, both kids had a fabulous time hand feeding the Alpacas, bottle feeding kids and patting kangaroos and koalas - they are so much more confident with animals, especially Emilia who even told the alpacas off when they got too pushy.)
- Visited Greens Pool, a sheltered bay in William Bay NP that is extremely picturesque with large rocks, white sand and turquoise water. The water looked so inviting that I decided to go snorkelling but it was absolutely freezing! The water coming straight from the Southern Ocean is so much colder than what we had been used to on the West Coast. Daniel has even bought a full wetsuit ($30 op shop bargain) as he keeps coming out shivering after going spear fishing.
- Checked out Elephant Rocks, rocks clumped together in such a way that they resemble a herd of elephants if you get the right angle. The huge boulders provide such a contrast on the beach and really add to the appeal of these pristine places.

We ended up staying for 5 nights at Parry's and could have stayed more but I had booked a caravan park in Albany and couldn't change dates. We had a great time and will definitely be taking Dave and Bec there when they visit in 6 weeks.
The big blue grouper Daniel speared near Parry Beach.

The greenlip abalone he got were very large, and very yummy.

Sunrise over the rocks at Parry Beach - a great way to start the morning.

Denmark Maze - after Daniel scared them by jumping out of the bushes.

Trying to find their way out of the maze together.

A visit to the Denmark Animal Farm for Jackson birthday - they let us in the koala enclosure to pat the koalas.

Emilia couldn't believe her luck.

The alpacas were very friendly but Emilia was great with them, telling them to wait their turn and trying to make sure they all got some food.

This photo can't help but make you laugh.

A kid getting friendly with Emilia - she ended up hugging it and nuzzling into it.

Bottle feeding some kids, it was so interactive and you were allowed in most of the enclosures.

The pristine (and icy cold) waters at Greens Pool near Denmark.

Elephant Rocks, hard to make out from this angle but the large rocks look a bit like elephants - pretty anyhow!
