4 Stray Katz: Jackson's Birthday

We spent Jackson's birthday at Parry Beach, near Denmark. We awoke to him saying Happy Birthday to himself then gasping in excitement at the balloons we had strewn around the van. He was excited to open his presents and even stopped to look at each card, he especially loved the card Emilia had made him with a dinosaur and wombat on it. He got a monster truck, army set (politically incorrect but apparently very fun), some DVDs a Batman wallet and some money, which he is very excited to spend. Then outside to his main present. He squealed when he saw his big present and did his excited dance. After getting Milly to help him he managed to rip all the paper off and discover his new pedal bike. He was very excited as Daniel pushed him around camp. The rest of the day involved a lot of food, choc mud cup cakes first up, pancakes for breaky after a walk on the beach, a piñata after lunch (with lots of lollies), abalone for entree then homemade fish and chips for dinner followed by banana cake and more choc mud cupcakes. It was a complete sugar overload.

After singing happy birthday we gave Jackson the knife to cut his cake and Daniel told him if he touches the bottom he has to kiss the nearest girl. Emilia squealed when she realised it would be her. Jackson promptly shoved the knife right to the base of the cake then gave a giggling Emilia a huge cuddle and kiss. Some friends we had just met joined us to sit around the campfire but by this time the excitement of the day had worn off, as had the sugar, and they were both exhausted and ready for bed. He had a great day and has practised in his bike since, he is able to pedal and ride with some pushes from Daniel, we are so proud of him!
