Feasting, spearfishing and burnouts (with his new remote control car)- Jackson's 10th birthday.

Munglinup Beach (2nd time in 2 weeks!)

Friday 3rd - Monday 6th February

Jackson's main request for his birthday was to go diving and spear a fish, and he thought Munglinup was the perfect place to do this so we came back for 3 nights and were lucky enough to have great weather. The boys went diving as soon as Jackson had opened his presents, but unfortunately the hand spear broke. Jackson was so disappointed so Daniel did some repairs and we all crossed our fingers. The spear seemed fixed so they boys went out again. Jackson's wish was granted and he walked proudly out of the water with a Wrasse. Jackson had a great 10th birthday diving, swimming, eating loads of yummy food (he got to choose the menu for the whole day) and playing with his new remote control car.

Over the 3 days at Munglinup, other than celebrating Jackson's birthday, we snorkelled, swam, fished (the boys got a feed of herring), walked along the beach, explored the rocks, played games and relaxed.

There were a couple of wildlife encounters over the 3 days- Jackson, Daniel and I saw a Dugite slithering across the sandy track to the beach (they are a highly venomous snake so we stayed out of its way), Daniel and Jackson got to swim with the eagle ray again, Daniel nearly stepped on a huge carpet python out the back of the campsite on the morning we left, and poor Emilia only saw a rat..ewww!

We gave him this present (a new mask and snorkel) a day early so he could use it.

Watch out fish - here he comes!

After his long dive he was really cold so decided to just sit in the bucket of warm water (instead of using the shower head).

Up early (6.20am) to open his presents, he was way too excited to sleep any later than that!

Emilia's card gave him a laugh, it said, 'Brother you're so funny....funny to look at that is!'

Opening his present from Emilia - she sewed him a fish hanging on driftwood to decorate his bunk area, as well as some lollies.

He loved his card and money from Nanna and Opa.....

...and the fishing scarf from Grandma and Pa was a hit (he's been wearing it all the time, fishing or not).

With his bush hat, he looks like a bush ranger!!!

Jackson opening his major birthday present - a 4wd remote control car. I had to stop videoing to explain what 1:16 meant!!

Breakfast fit for a king (and a hungry 10 year old!)

Ice-cream cake after lunch.

Jackson's dinner choice - huge steaks cooked on charcoal with mash and broccollini.
.
After dinner we took some chocolates down to the beach to watch the sunset but it was so cloudy by that point so there wasn't much of a sunset (and it was getting quite cold - which is why Jackson is sitting between my legs).

Birthday cake number 2- cheesecake!

Those last 2 candles just wouldn't blow out.

On one of the beach walks we went on we found all these hard sandy tubes, you could brush all the sand off the edges and dig it out of the middle until you were left with a strong sandy tube - they were very strange and very interesting. We found them in all different sizes and Jackson brought a few back to camp to investigate.

After practising on the gravel at Munglinup campground, we took Jackson to the pump track/skate park in Esperance and he had an awesome time speeding his new remote control car around.
