During our 24 hours in Prague we:
- got ourselves, kids and bags from the train station to the hostel (quite an effort!).
- navigated our way through the town and over the river to the best coffee place in Prague (their cold brew was amazing).
- walked along the river to the base of the castle, admiring the views of the ornate buildings on the other side of the river.
- got an amazing ice cream halfway up the hill to the castle (a reward and a bribe!).
- made it through the masses of tourists all headed towards Prague Castle.
- wandered through the castle grounds and then marvelled at the beauty of the sunlight streaming through the stained glass windows in the cathedral.
- walked along the other side of the river.
- got a swan shaped pedal boat and paddled along the river getting an alternate view of Prague.
- managed to steer our swan boat to a riverside bar and get a beer (it was an extremely hot day and we deserved it).
- walked to a nearby brewery for a delicious dinner and some refreshing local beer.
- took 2 very exhausted children home about 7.30pm where we all collapsed into bed (we had walked nearly 20km throughout the day).
- got up at 7, packed and enjoyed the quiet and stillness of the town (the masses of tourists weren't up yet).
- went to the town square and finally located the Astronomical Clock between all the scaffolding.
- waited patiently for 8am and the 'performance' of the Astronomical Clock that I had promised the kids. Unfortunately the clock struck eight and nothing happened. I was not having good luck as this was the second clock that didn't work that I had taken everybody to.
- got a local delicacy, trdelnik, a cone shaped donut and ate it whilst walking over the gorgeous Charles Bridge. It was so much better walking over it early morning without the hordes of tourists.
- let the kids burn of some energy in a playground at the base of the bridge.
- went out for brunch before catching the bus to the airport.
- waited for 30 minutes on board the plane before it took off, during which the pilot let the kids check out the cockpit.
- finally flew to England to meet up with Roofie and Steph.
