Our non-Christmas activities in the Margaret River region (but still no wineries!)

When we could drag ourselves away from our wonderful campsite at Chapman Pool we did a bit of exploring in the area. Our day trips included:

- Augusta where Daniel caught 13 sand whiting (we are going there again as the fishing was so good).

- Hamelin Bay- where huge sting rays come right into the shallows and allow you to hand feed them (with fish guts from the filleting table).

- Boranup Maze - a small home run maze in the Boranup Forest where the kids loved racing to the middle (and getting lost on the way).

- Meelap Bay- a gorgeous, and very popular, beach near Dunsborough.

- Simmo's Ice-creamery- where the Jackson couldn't believe his luck when they had chocolate sorbet. 

- Margaret River Farmers Market - the best farmers market since we left Victoria, we splurged.

However, as we are trying to keep to a budget we decided to skip the wineries as I tend to get a bit too 'in the moment' and want to purchase wine that we really can't afford (Liquorland specials are for us now!). We loved the area and are sure we will be back there at some point in our lives and hopefully we will be in a position to fill our wine cellar then!

Our camp ground non-Xmas activities including fishing (using things from the tackle boxes both kids got from Santa). Jackson caught a few bream (one 33cm long) just on his hand line, he was so proud of himself. Jackson also enjoyed dressing up with his monster mask and trying to scare Emilia.

The chocolate sorbet at Simmo's was a definite hit.

Daniel enjoyed finding marron whilst snorkelling but unfortunately we had to put them back as the season hasn't started.
